How much do you know about online shopping? For sure you probably have done online shopping: It’s pretty hard to escape it. From groceries to handmade goods, more and more retailers are seamlessly integrating online shopping — sometimes with delivery, sometimes with customer pick up — into their business models.

But it wasn’t always that way. Even just a few decades ago, online shopping was a few sites, modeled after stations that appeared on television, such as QVC, which involved watching long-form commercials and calling in orders. But then Amazon decided to sell books, and eBay became an online buy-sell marketplace, and two of the more enduring websites got a footing.
Now,

Amazon is much more than books. It is all sorts of goods and services, as well as TV and movies, with hundreds of millions of members. And even the smallest retailers have gotten into the online shopping show. What does that look like? This graphic explains it.
